Jo Dibb

Islington Gazette

Jo Dibb worked in Islington for ten years as the Head Teacher of Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School and the executive headteacher at the Islington Futures Federation. Dibb is very proud of her work at EGA and was rewarded for her hard work both by being announced as a listee on the Kindness and Leadership: 50 Leading Lights List and by a surprise visit to the school by Michelle Obama. In an interview, Dibb said:

“The day that Michelle Obama came was a stand out day; EGA was recognised to be a place where young women achieve despite the challenges… I am so astounded on a daily basis by the creativity, the resilience, the power of young people. If I can help them to have such great, successful futures and build successful futures for other people too, it’s a great privilege.”

Schools in Islington often get bad press, but through her love and resilience, Dibb has made a change and created fun and ‘outstanding’ institutions of learning. She has also shown us that kindness is an important part of good leadership.
