Denise Ward

Anita Grant

Denise Ward lives in Islington and volunteers with lots of different charitable organisations across the borough. She has previously worked as a social worker and is now a deacon in the Anglican Church. Ward is motivated by the painful difference in the quality of life within Islington and wants to make a difference wherever possible. She has paid particular attention to children’s rights, having been a trustee of Islington Play Association, as well as running gardening programmes at schools, being an executive member of the Children and Young People’s Voluntary Sector Forum, and being a trustee of Richard Cloudesly’s Charity.

Ward’s personal motto is ‘blossom where you are planted.’ This and her vigour in volunteering for so many organisations, she is an inspirational figure to us that we can give back wherever we are. We don’t have to wait for the right community or the right stage of life, we can use our skills and passions to help others right now.
