Cynthia Akinsanya
Cynthia Akinsanya is an Islington-based baker and business owner, who is passionate about cake. She baked her first celebration cake when she was eight, celebrating the Queen's Silver Jubilee. Akinsanya has been nominated for the Mumsclub Business Mums Award and the Business Woman of the Year for the Women4Africa Awards UK. Her cake company, Delights by Cynthia, received a commendation award for Small Business of the Year, at the Camden and Islington Business Awards. In 2016, Cynthia was listed as one of the 20 Black British Female Cake Bakers in London by Afriblog.
Akinsanya has a great love for Islington where she lives and works. She is a huge supporter of Arsenal Football Club and has baked cakes for local police officers to thank them for their work. Akinsanya also baked a huge fondant fancy to donate to Whittington Hospital to thank the NHS for their tireless work. As well as this, she is passionate about helping other women to set up their own businesses and runs workshops offering people-centered advice.
She is a compassionate mother and a wonderful friend. She doesn’t let anything stop her from achieving her dreams, and encourages those around her to do the same.
