Ebony Mackenzie
Ebony Mackenzie has been working at the Sobell Leisure Centre for almost 14 years, and is now the head coach for gymnastics. She runs the trampolining classes and has established a competitive trampolining club that competes regionally and nationally. She has also worked as a PE instructor in several Islington schools and hopes to be setting up some gymnastics competitions at Sobell soon.
Mackenzie is passionate about her trampolining squad and tirelessly trains them both in the sport, and to believe in themselves. She supports the young people in her team and has turned their lives around by going beyond what is expected, and having limitless dedication to their development. Some of her nominators have said:
She literally pulled my daughter out of a dark hole and got her on a trampoline and turned her life around after experiencing bullying.
She sees the light in every child she works with and makes sure it can shine out.
